A major new housing development in Bundoran has been given the go-ahead.

Conditional planning permission has been granted for the proposed development at Church Road, Magheracar.

Donegal County Council have laid down 32 conditions for the developer, McHenry Asset Holdings Ltd. The planning permission will be valid for ten years.

The development will see the demolition of two detached houses and associated sheds already on the site.

The new development will include the construction of 68 new dwelling houses. These will be a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terrace houses.

Two vehicular entrances onto Church Road will serve the development. A natura impact statement (NIS) was included as part of the planning documents submitted to the local authority.

In order for the development to proceed, the developer will have to satisfy the conditions imposed.

These include one that restricts all residential units permitted to first occupation by an individual purchasers. Therefore, they cannot be rented or be for social/affordable housing occupation.

This can only change if it has not been possible to have the units for use by an individual purchaser for two years after the date of completion.

The houses cannot be used as holiday homes, save for the granting of separate permission.

A communal open space and landscaped areas must be provided and a construction management plan is to be submitted to Donegal County Council.

The developer must lodge a bond of a baking or insurance company, a cash deposit or other such security in the sum of €5,000 per house.

Construction works can only take place from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday, 8.30am-3pm on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
