One of Bundoran's most popular café's has closed "due to unforeseen circumstances", it has been announced.

The 'Hardy Baker café' based at the local retail park was known as a trendy eating spot over recent years and was very popular with both locals and visitors to the resort. Their premises on Main Street, will however remain open.

There have been a large number of comments, expressing sorrow that the café has had to close.

One comment read: "Such a pity, ye ran a fantastic place and put your heart and soul into it. All the best in whatever the future brings."

Another added: "We are so sorry to hear this, one of our favourite places to have breakfast in Bundoran. Best wishes for the future."

In a posting on their Facebook page the owners said:

"We regret to inform you that the Hardy Baker in the Retail Park has closed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to make the difficult decision to close the Cafe.

"It has been a remarkable adventure, one filled with late nights, early mornings and countless hours of hard work. We want to thank each and every staff member who worked with us - we were incredibly lucky to have the most amazing team and would never have been able to do it without them.

"We would also want to express our heartfelt thanks to our loyal customers and the people of Bundoran (and beyond). Your unwavering support, loyalty and patronage have been the driving force behind this amazing journey.

"We will remain open on the Main Street for all the coffee lovers where you can still use the loyalty program, use vouchers and redeem your points. See you there soon."
