Kings of Cool return to Ballyshannon with special guests in tow

L-R , Stephen Gallagher, Jason Kelly and Michael Christie - the Kings of Cool - are hosting their big Ballyshannon concert on January 20 at the Abbey Arts Centre

After a sold out concert in Ballyshannon last May, the Kings of Cool return to the Abbey Arts Centre with a brand new show on Saturday January 20.

Michael Christie, Stephen Gallagher and Jason Kelly continue to release new music every couple of months and are already planning a release of their second album in mid 2024.

"We have a lot of plans for the year ahead," says Jason. "There are a number of concerts lined up all over the country, so we thought it would be a good idea to start off the year at home. The Abbey ArtsCentre is a great venue, we had a wonderful night there last May."

The Kings of Cool have been writing and recording new music all the time since their first song came out in 2020.

Michael said: "We have released over 20 songs already and we intend to carry on at the same pace in 2024. And right on cue we have just brought out a new tune called Thinking About You Tonight which is pure Country and Rock and Roll swing. Its already got airplay, even as far away as Australia!"

Regarding the upcoming gig on January 20, Stephen said:

"Well, we will play a mix of our own music and a few covers.

"And we have great guests like Breege Kelly, a legend of Ballyshannon music in her own right. Also we will have the Cholaiste Colmcille School Choir, with Mark Cronin directing and we are really looking forward to having them on stage with us"

And there seems to be a lot of excitement about another of the guests, Georgia.

"Well of course all three of us were in the band Georgia back in the 90s, and it was a very popular band," says Jason.

"We are thrilled that John Kane will be with us at this show. It will be the first time in
years that all four of us will be on stage together, so we will definitely play a lot of the old favourites from back then. It will be deadly."

Last word to Michael.

"The band are going to be very busy this year. Theres a fair chance this will be our only Ballyshannon gig...so don't miss out!"

There you have it. The Kings of Cool live, with guests Georgia, Cholaiste Colmcille School Choir and Breege Kelly.
