Gardaí are investigating the theft of a boat, a mercury boat engine and a boat trailer from the driveway of a house at Drumkeeghan, Donegal Town.
The boat is white in colour and has the following inscription along the side ‘Angel Betty’. The theft took place between 9am on Monday, February 5 and 12am on Saturday, February 10.
“We appeal to anybody who may have observed this boat/trailer in transit to make contact with gardaí,” Garda Niall Maguire appealed.
“If anybody has any information in relation to the current location of these stolen items or any relevant information we ask them to contact Ballyshannon Gardaí on 071-9858530. The Garda Confidential line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111."
An Garda Síochána Donegal have posted boat security advice:
“Every year, particularly in the spring and summer, boats, boat trailers, outboard motors, electronic and safety equipment are stolen," Garda Maguire continued.
"There are several measures that can be taken to provide adequate security precautions to protect your valuable property and to reduce the risk of theft.
“Although boat insurance is essential, it is not a substitute for improved security. By improving your security measures, you will greatly reduce your risk of falling victim to a crime.
“Gardaí in the Buncrana District have received three complaints of similar types of criminal damage incidents that occurred on Friday, February 9.”
