Gardaí have ceased €120,000 of suspected cannabis in a follow-up search in Donegal Town - bringing the estimated total to €751,500.
The haul comes five days after a major find of cannabis, worth €631,500, was located when gardaí raided an industrial premises in Donegal Town last week
“Follow-up searches were conducted by Gardaí in Ballyshannon and a further 6kg of suspected cannabis was seized,” a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Press Office told DonegalLive. “This brings the estimated total of drugs seized to €751,500.”
The seizures in Donegal Town have been made as part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy which was set up to 'disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs'.
The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
