Pauric McShea and Ardara native Mary McNelis, who was the proprietor of Ballyshannon’s Millstone Hotel
Former Donegal GAA captain Pauric McShea this week met his great friend Mary McNelis, former proprietor of Ballyshannon’s Millstone Hotel, and they discussed and celebrated Donegal's wonderful result against Derry on Saturday.
Donegal were 4-11 to 0-17 winners in the Ulster SFC quarter-final at Celtic Park in Derry and take on Tyrone in the semi-final on Sunday back at the same venue.
Mary, a lifelong Donegal supporter, was born in Ardara and she celebrated her 99th birthday on St Patrick's Day and spent a few days recently resting in Sligo General Hospital.
She was glowing about the wonderful care and attention she received from every member of staff in the hospital. Mary did admit that the tonic she got from seeing the Donegal footballers ‘do the business’ was the best pick-me-up she could get.
