The popular event attracts both locals and visitors alike
The Bundoran RNLI Emergency Services Open Day, which was due to take place tomorrow, has been postponed until early next month.
Organisers made the decision due to the poor weather forecast given for Sunday and have pencilled in a new date of Sunday, September 8.
“A dull and damp day tomorrow with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times,” is the Sunday forecast for the area from Met Éireann.
“Having checked the weather forecast for Sunday in Bundoran, the organising committee at Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat, has made the tough decision to postpone our scheduled Emergency Services Open Day until Sunday September 8th from 1-4pm, even organisers said.
“As this is a family event, we want everyone to be comfortable and relaxed on the day and Sunday's forecast conditions do not lend itself to that. Thank you for your support, apologies for any inconvenience and please keep an eye on Bundoran RNLI social media channels for further updates.”
The popular event attracts both locals and visitors alike and provides a unique opportunity for members of the public to meet the crews and see lifesaving equipment up close as well as getting an understanding of how it works.
The event, which is free to attend, gives the public the opportunity to purchase some RNLI souvenirs in the pop-up shop which will be available on the day including the new exclusive Bundoran RNLI pin badge as well as items from the RNLI 200 range.
Already confirmed to take part were Bundoran RNLI, Bundoran Fire and Rescue, Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery, Donegal Bay CFR, Irish Coast Guard and the Ballyshannon-based ECAS (Emergency Call Answering Service) team with plenty more expected to join in on the day.
