The family of the late Dermot Maguire have donated her collection of football jerseys to Ardara GAA club.

Clg Ard An Ratha are hosting a jersey and cake sale in aid of the new Sensory room of Pearse Memorial Park on Saturday morning and the Maguire family’s good gesture has certainly been appreciated in Kentucky.

Dermot, from Edergole, Ardara, passed away in July 2023 and two of his sisters - Mary and Imelda - kindly passed on a selection of his jerseys to the club secretary Mairead Mulreany.

“Mary and Imelda Maguire pictured presenting their late brother Dermot's soccer jersey collection to Mairead to put up for sale on Saturday at the jersey and cake sale in aid of the new Sensory room,” Ardara GAA posted. “A lovely gesture from the Maguire family in memory of one of our former players who will always be fondly remembered. Some great Celtic and Man Utd ones in the collection among others. Items for the sale can be left in the Clubhouse behind reception or on Saturday morning. Sale goes on from 10am-1pm.”

GAA President Jarlath Burns cut the ribbon when CLG Ard an Rátha officially opened their brand new training facilities in early August at Pearse Memorial Park.
