Poor Farmers Association charity auction raises €50,000 in Ardara

The total raised by the PFA over the years, following the 19th staging of the event is closing in on €600,000

The annual Poor Farmers Association (PFA) raised €50,000 at their charity auction in Ardara.

It means the total raised by the PFA over the years, following the 19th staging of the event is closing in on €600,000, with €523,149 having been gathered in the 18 years to date.

“Thanks to everyone who donated, bought items, turned up on the night or bid online and to anyone who helped in any way,” said Daniel Moy, who along with Malachy Gallagher ran the auction. "There's still donations coming but the money raised so far is €50,000."

The auction, which was held in Teague’s Bar in late December, was for the Resource Centre Ardara’s funding for a sensory room; Cancer Care West and Palliative Care Nurses.

Items available for auction included the likes of round bales of silage, cheviot ewe lambs, bags of turf, trays of eggs, drinks hamper.
