One of the region’s most famous indoor family holiday attractions will finally create that much needed splash for visitors and locals on Friday, June 24 at noon, after a hiatus that stretches back to 2019.
Bundoran's Waterworld, which had been forced to close over the past two years because of the Covid-19 lockdowns and winter storm damage, will bring a much wanted smile back to many children, as it will to their parents, guardians and families.
It will also bring a sense of relief to local tourism operators who say that 2022 has been very challenging with escalating costs everywhere.
Yesterday, the team at Waterworld Bundoran announced that the facility would finally reopen to the public on Friday, June 24 at 12 noon.
General Manager Áine Temple said she is looking forward to seeing Waterworld reopened:
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure things are in place for opening on June 24 and we’re thrilled to be opening the doors to Ireland’s premier indoor aqua adventure playground once again after being closed for nearly three years,” she said.
“It will be important for guests to book in advance via our website as we have gone online this year. This will allow for greater comfort for our guests to enjoy all the great attractions offered here at Waterworld.’
Board member and local councillor Micheal McMahon added:
“It’s one of Bundoran’s most important attractions and a big draw for both tourists and locals. I’d like to thank Donegal County Council for their continued support and investment in Waterworld which has enabled us to open in time for the summer season.”
Chairperson of Waterworld, Frankie O’Gorman commented:
“There’s an air of excitement around the complex and around the town that Waterworld is reopening again. It’s really been missed over the past couple of years.”
Booking for Waterworld will open via the website www.waterworldbundoran .com/booking on Tuesday morning, June 14, at 10am.
Waterworld is home to such firm favourites as the wave pool, the rapids, the three lane multi slide and the gravity speed slide – one of the fastest in Ireland, as well as many more features.
The 2022 season will see the introduction of an online booking system via the website www.waterworldbundoran .com which will allow guests to book their timeslot in advance and have their ticket scanned which will lead to faster entrance times.
