Katie-George and Linda cross the line in first
Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly backed up their gold medal performance in the time trial with a huge win in the road race at the Maniago Para-cycling World Cup on Sunday, April 23rd.
Dunlevy's parents, father John (a native of Mountcharles) and Alanna, were in Italy to witness the successes, a great start to the season for Katie-George and her new tandem partner Linda Kelly.
Their performance capped an impressive weekend for the Irish team as they took home two gold medals and a bronze medal from the time trial events on Thursday and Friday and the road race events on Saturday and Sunday.
The pair proved too strong for their competitors in the women’s tandem race as they finished one minute and 13 seconds ahead of second place. The other Irish duo of Josephine Healion and Eve McCrystal finished in tenth place.
Donegal man Mitchell McLaughlin along with Damien Vereker, who made their debut together on Friday in the Time Trial, recorded a 14th place finish in their first road race together on Sunday.
Katie-George and Linda have another couple of busy weekends ahead as they travel to Flanders this weekend and the following weekend there is another World Cup event in Ostend.
