Glenfin aware of the challenge in front of them against Termon - Diane McGlynn

Glenfin ladies have won so much in the last decade but hey'll not lack any motivation ahead of their clash with Termon on Sunday.

Glenfin are back in another Donegal Ladies SFC final and bidding to win back the title they surrendered last year to arch-rivals Terrmon.

The fact they lost their crown in the cruelest way possible, 5-3 on 25 metre free kicks after 20 minutes of extra-time failed to separate the sides, will have particularly stung.

The sides were level at Glenfin 1-8, Termon 0-11, at the end of normal time. And they could not be separated at the end of two periods of extra-time as it ended with Glenfin 1-11, Termon 0-14.

Unfortunately for Glenfin, former All-Star Yvonne Bonner is back in Australia and playing with the Adelaide Crows, in the AFLW.

Her loss will be tempered by the fact another All-Star, Geraldine McLaughlin, will also be absent for Termon. McLaughlin scored 0-11 of Termon’s total in last year's final.

Former Donegal All-Ireland U21 winner Frank Ward has taken over as manager from Paul Bonner and has guided his side to what is the club’s seventh final in a row.

Veteran defender and former Glenswilly player Dianne Toner McGlynn is the team captain.

Glenfin went into the decider on the back of a sternest semi-final test they had for years against an emerging St Eunan’s.

“St Eunan’s put it up to us and really tested us and we are just delighted to get the win. It was the sort of challenge we needed going in against Termon,” said Glenfin captain Ann Marie McGlynn.

“We always expected Termon would be our opposition in the final and it is a matter of going away now and getting for Termon in the final”,

Karen Guthrie led the Glenfin charge after Glenfin came from three points down against St Eunan's at half-time in the semi-final.

The former All-Star hit eight points while Katy Long also scored a goal and a point, Kathy Ward a goal while Katy Herron and  Brenda Carr also posted points against the ladies from O’Donnell Park.
