Naomh Pádraig took another step towards Division 2 safety with this hard-earned draw at home to Naomh Columba.
It was the first meeting between the clubs at senior level, pitting the 2024 Donegal and Ulster Junior champions Muff against the Glencolmcille side beaten in last year's Donegal Intermediate championship final.
A ding-dong battle ensued, with Jonny Toye and Shane Callaghan leading the way for their respective teams, and it took a late equalising free from Toye to earn a share of the spoils.
Muff got off to a very strong start leading 0-6 to 0-1 halfway through the first half. Glen then got into the game and reeled the local boys back in, dominating till the end of the half when a Jonny Toye two-pointer from play pushed the home side ahead by three.
But Muff had a stiff breeze behind them in the first half and the 0-8 to 0-5 lead at the break wasn't enough to allow them sit back and admire their laurels.
Naomh Columba started better in the second half with 2 points from play before Muff came back with three frees in a row from Toye and goalkeeper McKane to lead by four points with 42 minutes on the clock.
But using the wind to land a few two pointers through Callaghan and Alex Cunnea, the Glencolmcille men got their noses ahead and led Muff by a point deep in extra time.
The last kick of the game, a free out at the 45 was slotted home by Toye to level the game and share the points.
Both teams will feel they left the win behind them, but Muff with six men missing through injury, exams, and suspensions looked the happier after the final whistle.
The win moves Naomh Padraig into sixth place in the league standings. Their ten point haul should be enough to see them retain Division 2 status, and with five games remaining they'll be expecting to add a few more points to their tally before all is said and done.
