A floodlit AstroTurf pitch which gives an indication of how the new one at Cockhill might look
Cockhill Celtic are planning to build a new AstroTurf pitch at the Charlie O’Donnell Sportsgrounds.
The club has lodged a planning application with Donegal County Council to convert part of an existing hard-surfaced pitch to synthetic turf on their grounds in the townland of Ballymacarry.

Floodlights, a 2.4 metre high mesh panel fence and car-parking also form part of the application.
At 45 metres long and 34 metres wide, the new area will be used for training purposes rather than playing full-sided matches, and will be illuminated by LED floodlights.
The new AstroTurf area runs perpendicular to the club's existing synthetic surface near the ‘top pitch’.
The application was lodged with Donegal County Council on 1 October, and a decision is due by the end of November.
