A starfish was spotted at the water's edge at Rossnowlagh Beach

The common starfish was observed by Friends of Rossnowlagh, who warned not to handle live sealife directly. “Best advice is to scoop them up with sand and place them back in the water,” they advised.

The common starfish, which is generally orange or brown, is the most familiar in the north-east Atlantic Ocean. Today, Monday, June 8 marks 2026 World Oceans Day.
