Strong winds are on course to hit Donegal ahead of the festive season.

The national forecaster said wind alerts can disrupt travel. Many people will be hoping to travel home during the Christmas period.
There is also a risk of wave overtopping onto the coast so island communities will need to consider their travel ahead of schedule.
The wind is expected to strike at midnight and last until 23.30 on Thursday.
