Met Éireann has pinpointed the areas of the country set to bask in the warmest temperatures this June Bank Holiday weekend amid a glorious forecast.

Met Éireann's outlook says "high pressure will dominate for the bank holiday weekend with largely dry and mild conditions in store for the beginning of meteorological summer."

They too predict some showers on Sunday and Monday so it looks like Saturday may be the best day for a barbecue. According to Met Éireann weather maps, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Cork and Limerick will enjoy the warmest of the temperatures.

Met Éireann full forecast for the coming days reads: "Generally cloudy and breezy to start this morning [Thursday] with scattered showers. It will brighten up through the afternoon as the showers die out and sunny spells break through. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees, warmest in the southeast, with moderate northwest winds easing later on.

"Staying mainly dry with a mix of clear spells and some scattered cloud [Thursday night]. Longer clear spells will persist overnight as winds fall light. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

"A fine day of settled and mainly dry weather across the country [on Friday]. Sunshine will turn a little hazy later in the afternoon however as a touch of cloud builds across northern counties. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light northerly breezes.

"Staying dry and largely clear overnight [Friday night] with just a little scattered cloud across northern counties. Light winds and lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.

"Saturday will start off cloudy across the northern half of the country with good spells of sunshine further south. Cloud will break up through the afternoon leaving a fine and dry day with plenty of long sunny spells and just a touch of cloud at times across Ulster. Light winds and highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, warmest across Munster and south Leinster.

"Another dry night with light winds. Cloud will build in the northwest through the night with long clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.

"Sunday looks set to be a cloudy day with some light patchy rain or drizzle feeding in from the northwest. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees, warmest in the south, in light winds.

"Becoming dry Sunday night apart from patches of light rain at times over Ulster. Cloudy over the northern half of the country with some clear spells developing further south. Mild with temperatures not going below 9 to 11 degrees overnight."

For Bank Holiday Monday, they say: "Starting off cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle on Monday. Becoming drier away from northern coasts through the afternoon with brighter sunny spells developing over southern and eastern parts. Highest temperatures of 15 to 21 degrees warmest to the southeast."
