Storm Ashley to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Donegal on Sunday

Sunday could see coastal flooding and spot flooding as well as isolated thunderstorms, with temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees

Today's weather forecast - Sunday, September 29, 2019

Heavy rain will continue on Sunday morning with winds veering southwesterly and easing a little bit for a short while.

It's going to become very windy and indeed stormy through the morning as storm Ashley moves closer, with southwest winds increasing strong to gale force and gusty, possibly touching storm force in coastal parts in the afternoon and evening, with severe and damaging gusts.

Coastal flooding is likely due to very high tides. Showers or longer spells of rain will move into the west and northwest through the morning and early afternoon and will gradually spread southeastwards.

The rain will be heaviest in the west and northwest, with isolated thunderstorms and some spot flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

Sunday night will be very windy with showers or longer spells of rain for a time. However the winds will gradually moderate and it'll become drier overnight, with some clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees.
Monday will be a much quieter and drier day.

There'll be some sunshine and just a few well scattered showers through the morning and for much of the afternoon.

It'll become cloudier though from the west through the afternoon and evening, with some showery outbreaks of rain gradually moving in from the northwest later in the afternoon and spreading further eastwards through the evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in mostly moderate southwest winds, those winds increasing fresh to strong in coastal parts.
