Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Wind Warning for Donegal, with strong to gale-force southwesterly winds expected to cause challenging conditions from Thursday evening into early Friday morning.
The alert comes into effect today at 4pm on Thursday, 27 November, and will remain in place until 6am on Friday, 28 November. Donegal County Council have warned that people in the county "can expect gusty winds capable of making travel difficult, particularly on exposed routes, and warn of loose debris or objects being displaced as the conditions peak overnight.
"Motorists and residents are being urged to take extra care during the warning period, secure any loose outdoor items, and keep up to date with the latest forecasts from Met Éireann."
While Mayo is also included in the warning, Donegal is expected to feel the brunt of the strongest winds as the weather system moves across the northwest.
