A Yellow Wind warning has been issued for Donegal as Storm Chandra is set to bring very strong and gusty conditions across the county on Tuesday.
The warning will come into effect from 3am on Tuesday, January 27, and will remain in place until 11pm that night. Forecasters say winds will be strongest along coastal areas and in exposed locations, with conditions expected to be blustery at times throughout the day.
Potential impacts include fallen trees, loose debris and difficult travelling conditions, particularly on higher ground and along Atlantic-facing routes. Coastal areas may also experience wave overtopping, with motorists and pedestrians urged to exercise caution near the shoreline.
Road users are being advised to take care, especially during peak travel times, as hazardous driving conditions are possible. Members of the public are also encouraged to secure outdoor items and remain alert to changing conditions as the storm passes through.
The warning applies to all of Ireland, with Donegal among the areas most exposed due to its coastal and upland geography. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and are advising people to stay up to date with the latest forecasts and safety advice.
