The bus stop in Dungloe needs to be moved says Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher

The bus stop needs to be moved from Dungloe main street to the car park as people are parking their cars along both sides of the road from 7.30am onwards in order to get the bus to Letterkenny and other areas, a councillor said. 

Sinn Féin Councillor Marie Therese Gallagher asked officials who put the bus stop outside Sweeney's Hotel on the main street as she was of the opinion that it was supposed to be located in the car park.

She was speaking at the recent Glenties Municipal District meeting in Dungloe.

She said: "If you walk down the town at 7.30am people are packing the main street and getting the bus." 

The councillor said that there was a sheltered area in the car park which is a facility which could be used by those boarding buses. More and more people are using buses now due to fuel and transport costs, she said.

Cllr Gallagher said: "Right now the bus stop needs to be built into the car park. People are coming off outside Doherty's Cafe and walking across the road which is busy with traffic."
