Locals in Gaoth Dobhair have thanked the Ukranian community living in the area who did their bit to arrange a clean-up in Bunbeg.
"On Sunday last week, a group of our Ukrainian nationals tidied the Harbour Road in Bunbeg," said Tommy Curran, who collects announcements from the area for publication in the local media.
"The men and women cleared the sides of this scenic road lifting bottles, coffee cups, pizza boxes, takeaway bags etc. They never asked for cleaning supplies which are available to all from An Crannog, Derrybeg for clean-ups. They just got stuck in and left everything as it should be.
"Fair play to these kind people and thank you on behalf of the parish. This was a very scenic walk which leads down to one of the most beautiful small harbours in Ireland. Lately the litter has reached totally unacceptable levels which is a real shame and especially with the approaching tourist season this deed and shows their acceptance, pride and appreciation of their new community.
"We all know that litter has become a real problem not only in this parish but all over the country. This is not something new but it is getting worse and it is up to everyone to dispose of their litter using the facilities which are available to all."
