Caroline McGinley
An event is being organised to raise much-needed funds for Gaoth Dobhair's Caroline McGinley, (Packie Owenie), who is undergoing medical treatment in America following serious illness.
On March 10, last, Caroline who was complaining of pain in her back went to the emergency department where numerous tests and scans were ran, as medical personnel were trying to ascertain what was effecting her. The following day, Caroline took a turn for the worst and had to be intubated and sedated and was subsequently diagnosed with sepsis and strep pneumonia and given a 10 per cent chance of survival.
On March 22, Caroline was taken off the ventilator and woke up, beating the odds. On March 30, Caroline had to have surgery where surgeons had to remove approximately half of her right lung.
Her gofundme page reads: "Caroline has a very long and tough road ahead, we're asking for your help with medical costs and after care for our beloved friend, every little bit helps."
