The Dungloe and Donegal Marys were selected for this year's Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival on Friday night at the Waterfront Hotel.

Kate Galligan was in attendance and presented with her official 2023 Cavan sash and she then presented the new Dungloe Mary and our new Donegal Mary their sashes. Congratulations were passed onto Caitlin McCahill, the Dungloe Mary, and Termon's Christina Gallagher, who will represent Donegal.

The Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival is a community-based festival that has been held annually since 1967 in Dungloe. It is family-friendly with a wide variety of musical, cultural, child, sporting, artistic and novelty events. Irish diaspora communities from around the world, as well as Irish counties and towns, participate by nominating a young woman to represent their area.

The winner, crowned 'Mary From Dungloe' holds the title for a year and acts as an ambassador for the festival, Dungloe and Donegal. This year's Gala event will take place back in the Waterfront Hotel on Friday, August 4, and there has been a bumper interest already since tickets went on sale only last week.

"We are thrilled and shocked to say that most of our tickets for this year's Gala Ball have sold out," read a post from event organisers. "Some more may come available due to cancellations, so please contact Kevin Bonner's, Dungloe to leave your contact details. It’s shaping up to be an amazing night."
