The Palestinian flag should be flown outside of the civic offices of Dungloe in the Glenties Municipal District (GMD) area, an independent councillor has said.
Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig raised the issue at the GMD meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig said that the flag should be flown in support of the people of Jenin in the occupied region of the West Bank, in Palestine, after at least ten Palestinians were killed and 50 injured, 10 seriously, in an Israeli attack that began at about 1am on Monday, according to reports.

Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig also indicated that Donegal County Council has an ongoing policy of boycotting Israel.
He also called for the municipal district to write to the Tánaiste and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin and an Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, asking that the Israeli ambassador be expelled from Ireland.
Speaking following the meeting, outside the Dungloe Public Services building, he spoke of the historical similarities shared between the people of Ireland and Palestine.
He said: “Continue the boycott. We have a strong policy here within the council here in Donegal.
“We have to send a strong to the people of Palestine that we here in Ireland fully support you.”
