In pictures: The Gay Byrne walking trails have been officially opened

The Gay Byrne trails offer seven unique routes along the Atlantic Coastline, showcasing the stunning estuary, Dooey, Druimnaduid, Marameelan, Falmore, and Maghery

The opening of the Gay Byrne walking trails took place on Friday afternoon, as part of the Mary from Dungloe Arts Festival. 

The Gay Byrne trails offer seven unique routes along the Atlantic Coastline, showcasing the stunning estuary, Dooey, Druimnaduid, Marameelan, Falmore, and Maghery. Festival organisers introduced the trails in association with Donegal County Council.

The Rosses was an area that was cherished by the late RTÉ broadcaster Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen.
