Aldi are pleased to announce that its Dungloe Store Manager, Conal Sweeney, is celebrating his 20-year work anniversary with the business.

Letterkenny native Conal has worked at Aldi since May 2003 and first started as a Store Assistant, working up the ranks to Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager, before progressing to his current role as a Store Manager.

He worked in a number of stores including Letterkenny, Buncrana, Athlone, Galway, Castlebar, Cavan, Drogheda and Kells before settling in his role as Store Manager at the Dungloe Store.

“It is an honour to receive recognition of the past 20 years from my colleagues,” he said of his 20 years. “It is a significant milestone, which has caused me to reflect on the decisions I have made over the past 20 years, of which I am immensely proud.”

“I thoroughly enjoy my role as Store Manager. I try to create a positive work environment with invested staff members who ensure the store performs to a high standard. Along with flexible shift patterns, it is important to me that the staff at ALDI Dungloe have adequate training, in order to fully understand their roles and responsibilities.”

As a leader of the Dungloe store, Conal heads up his own dedicated team of store colleagues and has seen Aldi continue to grow and invest across the country over the years.

“It has been a privilege to work at Aldi for 20 years,” he said. “I’ve loved working here and it’s the customers and my colleagues that make the local Dungloe store such a great place to work.”

“By taking my time to learn my role well, I’ve been able to complete every task to the best of my ability. Whichever role I’ve been working in, from Store Assistant to Store Manager, I’ve been able to learn a lot and, perhaps most importantly, build lifelong friendships with my colleagues.”

Donald Mackay, Managing Director of Operations at ALDI Ireland, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to all our colleagues and take great pride in celebrating their achievements.”

“Conal has played a key part in our growth and success, and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the business.”
