Arranmore RNLI answers call for three medical evacuations in four days

Arranmore RNLI out on Friday evening last, again on Monday morning and a further call today Tuesday.

The all-weather Arranmore RNLI volunteer crew responded to three calls to help with medical evacuations from the island over the last week.

The team were out on Friday evening last, again on Monday morning and a further call today Tuesday. Patients requiring medical assessment are transported by lifeboat to Burtonport where they are met by ambulance for transfer to Letterkenny University Hospital.

“We are really pleased to be able to provide this vital service to the community, our colleagues in the Coast Guard also assist in medical evacuations and this is an invaluable service to the people of Arranmore and the surrounding islands who are in need of medical assistance,” Arranmore RNLI coxswain Jimmy Early said.
