People asked to be prepared for power cuts in Glenties Municipal District area

People are being urged to be prepared for power outages in the Glenties Municipal District, this evening.

Power was off for a short period in an area outside Falcarragh earlier today.

Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty said it is important to always be prepared for power outages.

He said: "Folks have a candle or flash lamp ready in case the lights go out again. Charge your phones. It has been off for three minutes already in my area outside Falcarragh, in Derryreel."

He urged people to check on the elderly and the vulnerable if the power goes out in case they need help.

"Look out for the elderly and those living on their own and those who are vulnerable. Not everyone is on social media so please look out for one another," he said.
