Letterkenny Cathedral is hosting a very special event that will be an absolute treat for fans of this evocative dance form.

A spokesperson took to Facebook to say: “We are delighted to announce our big event to celebrate our tenth anniversary and it is really something special especially for all dance enthusiasts. 

“Argentine Tango performers  Elizabeth Matias Arte will be holding a demonstration and workshop in Letterkenny Community Centre on Wednesday, May 8 at 8pm.

“Elizabeth Cordone and Matías Rivas are distinguished dancers, choreographers, and teachers of Argentine Tango, whose trajectory has intertwined in the Buenos Aires nights and renowned stages, such as Tango Show Houses. 

“Their passion for this artistic expression has led them to form a stable partnership, standing out in casts of prestigious dance companies and accompanied by recognized orchestras.”

“Their romance with dance was forged in the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires, under the lights of the most emblematic milongas, where each step resonated with the essence of the arrabal.

“Their commitment to the spread of tango transcends borders, as besides teaching in dance academies in Buenos Aires, they have taken their art on international tours. They carry a piece of the Buenos Aires night with them to every corner of the world.

“At the heart of tango, the Recoleta neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, they have created their own space, Recoleta Tango Studio, where they share their culture with curious local and foreign students.
