Preparations are at full steam ahead for this Saturday, August 10, when the legendary Sheep Races will return to Leghowney.

There will be lots of great family activities throughout the day, in between the main events the sheep races, with something that's sure to suit everyone, including, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Monster Raffle, Live Music, Novelty Races, and much more with barbeque, tea/coffee/scones and ice-cream available during the day. Admission is only €5 and under 12's admission is free. Gates open from 1pm with the first Race due to start at 1.30pm.

The last Sheep Race Day held at Leghowney Hall was nine years ago in 2015. There have been many changes around the hall in that time.

Since then, we have had our New Play Park opened in 2017 which is used on a regular basis by local and visiting children and families. We have had our car park fully tarred and partially lined.

The new extension was added to the hall during 2020-2021. This extension increased the stage capacity and allowed extra space for productions and performances. The new space also incorporates a Community Hub, furnished with office equipment, computers, projection screen and high-speed broad band. This hub is a fantastic new addition and is available to the local community to facilitate working from home and is suitable for visiting clubs or groups requiring a conference/ meeting room.

An accessible toilet was opened beside the play-park in 2021. Solar panels and water harvesting tank have also been added in the last few years. Leghowney Loop Walk has continued to be upgraded over the past few years with seating and information boards recalling local history/heritage and our local flora and fauna added in 2022.
