A free treat for music lovers on the Diamond in Donegal Town

A free music event is taking place in Donegal Town.

The Chorale Under The Canopy takes place this Sunday, September 1 from 3pm to 5pm. 

A spokesperson said: “The Bluestack Chorale at their relaxed best bring a selection of favourites from their extensive back catalogue.

“Everything from Mozart to swing time jazz and maybe even a bit of James Bond.

“What better way to pass an early Autumn Sunday afternoon?”

The event is part of the year-long programme to celebrate Donegal Town 550th. More information on this and other upcoming events can be found on the Donegal Town 550th Facebook page. 

The canopy is a feature of the newly refurbished Diamond, and can be used in all weather conditions. 

“It is a great year-round space for the community, increasing the number of events and gatherings, a community space for sports, businesses, clubs, anyone who wants to use it,” said Joy Browne of Donegal County Council. 

If people want to book the canopy they go through Donegal Community Chamber by emailing  development@donegaltown.ie

Joy adds: “They will then be invited to fill out a form outlining what they plan to do. A key will be given for access to the electric boxes.”

The canopy area can be easily sectioned off in situations where it is being used for festivals, homecomings, etc.
