The highly successful National Day of Creativity for Children and Young People, Cruinniú na nÓg takes place this year on Saturday, June 7.

Here in Donegal, we’re very proud of the activities, events and partners who have in previous years made Cruinniú na nÓg in Donegal one of the very best in the Country, with events activities right through the County.

To build upon this Donegal County Council’s Culture and Creativity Team are seeking new proposals from practitioners, community groups and organisations for creative events and activities that will provide opportunities for children and young people to make, do, try or see in their own locality.

The ‘Voice of the Child’ Survey which asked children across the county for their ideas for the day should be central to the proposals put forward. These can be viewed at donegalculture.ie

Expression of interest – open call
The emphasis of Cruinniú na nÓg is on doing, making, creating. The open call is seeking practitioners, venues, organisations or community groups to make a proposal for an event to take place within your own community.

Creative practitioners in any medium or art form are encouraged to submit a proposal, in the areas of, but not limited to, theatre, dance, music, opera, film, circus, performance, fashion, photography, visual arts, digital arts, literature and storytelling, street art or spectacle.

Also, traditional skills practitioners or others with expertise in areas such as flora & fauna/biodiversity, folklife, archaeology, built heritage, history, vernacular architecture or any related field are also encouraged to put forward how they might run a project for Cruinniú na nÓg.

Submissions are welcome from communities in every location in the County, and projects or events must take place or culminate on Saturday, June 7.

Cruinniú na nÓg is funded through the Creative Ireland Team, Donegal. Event proposers are encouraged to make realistic submissions in terms of scale and costs and funding will be allocated to those events which best meet the objectives of Cruinniú na nÓg as outlined in the application form.

Cruinniú na nÓg proposal forms can be downloaded at www.donegalculture.ie or available in the following link Cruinniu na nOg | Donegal County Council - Culture Division Completed forms should be emailed to CreativeIreland@donegalcoco.ie by Sunday, March 23.

Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme at the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and is presented in partnership with RTÉ and Local Authorities.
