Glenswilly gears up for superhero Dance-a-Thon in support of Zach McCrossan

The Glenswilly community is set to don their capes and dance shoes this Friday, April 25, for a heartwarming cause.

A Superhero Dance-a-Thon will take place at Glenswilly GAA Hall from 5pm to 6pm, rallying support for four-year-old Zach McCrossan and his family.

Zach, from St Johnston, has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, a high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) that progresses to acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Zach’s only chance is a bone marrow transplant, which isn’t available in Ireland.

He has now been referred to the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht, Netherlands, where he’s expected to be an inpatient for at least three months. Thus far over €150,000 has been raised and you can support the cause on Go FundMe Our Story – A Family Fighting Together.

Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite superheroes - or in any fun, creative costume - for a one-hour dance-a-thon that promises fun, laughter, and community spirit. The event aims to celebrate Zach, affectionately dubbed a "Superhero" by organisers, while raising vital funds to support his family.

All donations raised on the day will go directly to the Mc Crossan family, with the community encouraged to come out in force to show their support. Whether you're a dancing novice or a caped crusader on the dance floor, all are welcome to join in and help make a difference.
