Chairperson of the Waterworld board, Cllr Michael McMahon (SF): “We are aiming to open our doors on July 11, with the official opening on July 14.
“It is going to be a state of the art facility following at €2.3 million spend. It is all revamped on the inside, with a new changing village, new showers, new toilets and a new reception area.
“There will also be a shelter outside to protect people queuing.”
Further work includes the installation of a new Air Handling Unit (AHU) in the pool area.
The team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that everything will be ready for visitors by mid-July.
“Staff recruitment is going on as we speak,” said Cllr McMahon
“Waterworld is a wonderful product for Bundoran. It was one of the first of its kind in the country when it opened 33 years ago, and it is known far and wide as a great facility.
“It is great for Bundoran, great for businesses and great for the area in general.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contractors and staff as well as Garry Martin and the team at Donegal County Council for their supervision and the time they gave to it.
