Belleek native Rachel O'connor passed away in Omagh Hospital last December
Ballyshannon Drama Society will stage Calendar Girls at the Abbey Arts Centre in October and will dedicate their last night to the late Rachel O’Connor.
Based on a true story, Calendar Girls is a heartwarming tale of courage, friendship, and community spirit that will leave audiences both laughing and deeply moved. Directed by Geraldine Diver, this much-loved play promises an unforgettable evening of theatre.
It will run from October 1 through to October 4, with the final performance a special Gala Night in loving memory of Rachel O’Connor, with all proceeds going directly to local cancer charities.

The 63-year-old Belleek native passed away in Omagh Hospital last December, surrounded by her beloved family after battling cancer since her shock diagnosis while on the drama festival circuit in 2023.
“Ballyshannon Drama Society is devastated by the passing this morning of Rachel O Connor,” the group said at the time. “Rachel was an inspiration to us all as our secretary, as a director and award-winning actress. She was a driving force behind everything both on and off stage.”
