Following the walk and remembrance pause, attendees are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and light refreshments at the Hospice
As part of Palliative Care Week, which takes place from September 7-13, the Donegal Hospice is inviting members of the public to join a gentle community walk on Thursday, September 11, at 6pm.
The walk will begin at the Donegal Hospice carpark, located at Knocknamona, Letterkenny, F92 VX81. Participants will then stroll together to Bernard McGlinchey Town Park and return to the Hospice for a Palliative Pause in the gardens for a moment of reflection to remember loved ones and light a candle in their memory.
This is a free event and everyone is welcome. Following the walk and remembrance pause, attendees are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and light refreshments at the Hospice.

Catherine Regan, Director of Nursing at the Donegal Hospice said, “This walk is a special opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, reflection, and support during Palliative Care Week. Whether you have been personally touched by palliative care or simply wish to show your support, we look forward to welcoming the public to this special event.”

This year's walk comes at a particularly exciting time for the Donegal Hospice, as plans for a significant extension and refurbishment of the facility are now at a detailed design stage. The project will enhance the Hospice capacity and services, ensuring it can continue to meet the growing needs of the community with the highest standards of care.
Isobell Doherty, Chairperson of The Donegal Hospice Directors CLG talked about the importance of this development saying: “As we mark this important week, we’re also looking to the future with optimism as the Hospice moves into the detailed design stage of our planned extension and redevelopment. This project will allow us to continue providing compassionate, high-quality care for those who need it most.”
