Culture Night Carndonagh 2025 will showcase the creativity and ideas of young people, like filmmaking
Inishowen social enterprise Spraoi agus Spórt is presenting a programme curated, produced, and hosted by local young people for Culture Night.
Culture Night/Oíche Chultúir, on September 19, is an annual, all-island public event celebrating culture, creativity and the arts.
To mark it, Spraoi agus Spórt will hand the reins to young people for a special celebration in Carndonagh, showcasing their ideas, creativity, and energy through workshops, performances, and activities that are open to all.

The event - which is funded through the Shared Island Civic Society and supported by Artlink, The Nerve Centre, Inishowen Traditional Music Project - can be found from 6pm at Spraoi agus Spórt’s units at Supervalu Carndonagh, with highlights that include visual arts workshops, music with an open mic and live band, digital media creation stations, and lantern making.
Visitors can also enjoy a pop-up Gaeltacht café with tea, coffee, and treats, a “come try an instrument” session, and a curated exhibition of artworks created on Culture Night and in the lead-up. Gaming tournaments, film and photography booths, and opportunities to explore digital arts will run alongside live displays from local artists.
The event is free to attend and open to all, with a particular focus on young people and teens. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Some sessions can be booked in advance via the Spraoi agus Spórt website.
Deirdre McGrory, creative youth engagement coordinator and event manager, said: “Spraoi agus Spórt are thrilled to host this Culture Night event. This is a celebration of young people and their ideas. We are delighted to collaborate with some of the leading arts organisations in the North West, including ArtLink, The Nerve Centre and the Inishowen Traditional Music Project, alongside the youth advisory board we have recruited. Thanks to the Shared Island Civic Society, we have been able to pour time into meeting, learning, and planning for this event. We aim to showcase local artists while providing exciting creative sessions for all on Friday 19th September.”
