A very special evening of cinema is taking place in Mountcharles

A very special evening of cinema is taking place in Mountcharles. The audience will be treated to a programme that captures decades of life in the seaside community, as well as its rich heritage.

The evening will consist of a screening of the award winning Man of Stone by Michael Mc Monagle, Manus Brennan and Emer O'Shea. 

A spokesperson said: “The film is a celebration of the life and work of Patsy Mc Inaw and the craft of dry stone wall building.”

The Chronicles of Joey Kane will also be shown.

“The late Joey Kane preserved aspects of the life of Mountcharles and area in the 1980s and 1990s on film,” said the spokesperson.

“This unique footage has been made available thanks to the Kane family and has been edited by Michael Mc Monagle. 

“Get ready to spot your family, neighbours and friends in action as they participate in a wide variety of community events and see if you can recognise the 'celebrities' who visited the area at that time.”

This double celebration of Mountcharles in film is hosted by the Heritage Group, with thanks to St Peter’s NS where the films will be shown on Thursday, January 15 at 7.30pm.
