An initiative aimed at welcoming newcomers and promoting Irish language and culture is set to begin next week with the launch of free weekly Irish classes for new communities at Cara House Family Resource Centre in Letterkenny.
The classes will take place every Tuesday at 10am, starting on February 3, and are open to people who are new to the area and interested in learning the Irish language in a relaxed and supportive environment. The programme is designed to help participants build basic conversational skills while also offering an opportunity to connect with others in the community.

Organisers say the classes will focus on making Irish accessible and enjoyable, regardless of prior experience, and will also provide a social space where participants can meet new people and learn more about local culture. Refreshments and a warm welcome will be part of the weekly sessions.
The initiative is being supported by local community organisations including Cara House Family Resource Centre and Céad Míle Fáilte, reflecting a broader commitment to inclusion, integration and cultural exchange.
Places are limited and those interested in taking part are encouraged to book in advance. For further information or to reserve a place, people can contact Janet on (074) 9123986 or 086-1223029.
