A week-long celebration of Irish language and culture will take place in Buncrana from 11–17 Márta as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge.

The programme has been organised with support from local volunteers and organisations including Glór Inis Eoghain, highlighting the strength of community collaboration in promoting the Irish language locally and bringing people together through culture and shared experiences.

A highlight of the programme will be the Clár Gearrscannán (Short Film Programme) at Buncrana Cinema on Saturday 14 March at 8:15pm. The specially curated screening will feature a selection of Irish short films including Fluent Dysphasia, An Chathair Mhór (Big City) and Cá n-Imíonn an t-Airgead? (Where Does the Money Go?), a classic Irish-language short film originally produced in 1954.

The film Cá n-Imíonn an t-Airgead? (Where Does the Money Go?) is being screened with the support of IFI the Irish Film Institute, helping bring Irish-language cinema to audiences in Buncrana.

Buncrana Cinema will also screen new Irish-language murder mystery feature film Báite showing daily 11-16 showtimes on their website.

Organisers say the programme reflects a growing interest in Irish language and cultural activity in the area and aims to build momentum for future years. The events are open to everyone, with organisers encouraging people of all levels of Irish to get involved. Fáilte roimh chách – everyone welcome.
