Donal Lunny and Paddy Glackin to play Ionad Cois Locha on Tuesday.

Donal Lunny and Paddy Glackin round off this summer's Tionscnamh Lugh Trad Trathnona series in Dunlewy.

The Tionscnamh Lugh Trad Trathnona series comes to a close next Tuesday, August 30th, with an eagerly anticipated concert by Donal Lunny and Paddy Glackin.

Two giants and pioneers of Irish traditional music team up for a fantastic night of virtuoso playing back in their historical home in the Donegal Gaeltacht, at Ionad Cois Locha.

Both founder members of the Bothy Band, their musical pedigree speaks for itself.

Donal Lunny needs no introduction, having made his name as a member of the hugely influential groups Planxty, The Bothy Band, Altan and Moving Hearts.

A gifted composer, arranger and producer, Lunny has also worked with rock and pop musicians such as Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, Elvis Costello and Kate Bush.

Paddy Glackin is one of Ireland’s leading fiddlers.

Although he was born and raised in Dublin, he has always been proud of his strong links with Donegal.

His father, Tom Glackin, a native of Donegal, was also a talented fiddle player. He instilled in Paddy a deep interest and love of the music of the county.

Paddy Glackin, like Donal Lunny, was an original member of the Bothy Band. He went on to to work as a producer in RTÉ Radio 1, eventually becoming its sports editor. He is now a member the band LAPD.
