Read DL writing competition launched - get your creative thinking caps on

The theme for this year's competition is 'Never Ever Give Up!'

Children, young people and adults are all invited to take part in the ReadDL writing competition

The annual Read DL short story competition is open, with entries welcome in youth and adult categories.

This year's theme is 'Never Ever Give Up!'

Prizes will be awarded in three categories, Primary School Students, Secondary School Students and Over 18s. First, Second and Third placed entries in each category will receive book tokens to the value of €50, €30 and €20 respectively.

Entries must be no longer than 500 words and should be submitted by the closing date of Friday, March 25 at 5pm. They can be emailed to or posted to Read DL Creative Writing Competition, ETB Offices, Adult Education Centre, Ard O'Donnell, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Entry is free and there is no limit to the number of stories each writer can submit. Entries must be the original work of the author and not previously published, self-published, broadcast, or have won any previous competition.

Contact details including story title, writer's name, school name, email and phone number of school for youth entries, should be attached on a cover letter and not on the same page as the creative writing which will be judged anonymously. The story should be typed on one side of the paper only.

Entries will be judged on originality, use of language, creativity and depth of feeling.

The winner will be announced at the Read DL Online Mini Festival taking place from March 29 to 31.
