Katie-George Dunlevy seeking more World medals this weekend

Already the holder of 21 World Championship medals and four Paralympic gold medals, Katie-George Dunlevy is back chasing more medals this weekend when the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships take place in Huntsville, Alabama.
Dunlevy, with her Mountcharles connections, will once again be joined on the tandem by Linda Kelly and they are part of a 12-strong Irish team taking part in the championships from Friday 4th to Monday 7th next.
The Irish pair are rated as slight favourites with the British pairing of Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Holl their great rivals in the Women B sport class.
Dunlevy has amassed nearly 60 career wins, including three in the time trial at the Paralympics: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Dunlevy and Kelly are also the current time trial UCI World champions after storming the 23.km course in Ronse, Belgium.
In 2026, standout victories include at the UCI Para cycling Road World Cup round in Gistel (Belgium) and at the UEC European Championships. They lost out to Unwin and Holl in the final UCI World Cup round, in Abruzzo (Italy). This could be a memorable encounter.
Dunlevy and Kelly will be joined in the WB category by Sinead Greenan and Alice Sharpe. Sharpe, herself an Olympian on the track, began piloting Greenan earlier this year and the pair have already picked up World Cup and European Championship medals.
The Time Trial takes place on Saturday with the Road Race on Monday.
There is another Donegal connection at the championships with Mitchell McLaughlin the pilot for Damien Vereker and the pair took a World Cup medal earlier this year and put in a strong performance at the European Champs recently.
