By 1974, Donegal, in the same kit, were provincial champions again. After a 1-14 to 2-11 draw against Down, Donegal took home the Anglo Celt thanks to a 3-9 to 1-12 victory in the replay. This time, they lost out to Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final 3-13 to 1-14, with the Tribesmen losing out to Dublin 0-14 to 1-6 in the final.

Tom Conaghan was in charge of the U-21s in 1982 and for the first time ever at the bracket, Donegal were All-Ireland champions. A smart all green tracksuit was worn by the panel for the 0-8 to 0-5 win in Carrick-on-Shannon for the 0-8 to 0-5 win over Roscommon. On the pitch, it was a green jersey, with a golden hoop, white socks and gold socks.

In 1983, Donegal were winners of the Ulster SFC, now with (pretty dark) green shorts. They beat Cavan 1-14 to 1-11 in Clones and lost out to Galway, again, in the All-Ireland semi-final in heartbreaking fashion, 1-12 to 1-11.

Some of the younger supporters might not remember the Centenary Cup, which took place in 1984. A completely open draw saw Donegal draw Kerry in the first round at MacCumhaill Park, with the Kingdom winning 0-11 to 0-8 in Munster jerseys, while Donegal wore a kit that would become more familiar.
