The Naomh Columba defender - who was captain for their 1990 Donegal SFC success - was the man who benefited from Martin Shovlin failing a fitness test on the morning of the final at Finnstown House in Lucan for his first game of the year. The Donegal captain in 1998, Doherty managed Naomh Muire to a Donegal JFC and was county manager in 2009 and 2010, winning two Dr McKenna Cups. Runs JJD Services in Rannafast.
