Owenbeg
Derry 1-16
Donegal 0-9
Rory Gallagher fielded an experimental Donegal side for his first match in charge against Derry at Owenbeg.
They trailed 1-5 to 0-5 behind at half-time after Emmet McGuckin's 16th-minute goal and the Oak Leaf County pulled away comfortably in the second period. Despite a 2-16 to 1-8 win over Queen’s in Ballybofey and then a 0-12 to 2-5 success over Fermanagh in Ballybofey, Donegal exitted at the first round and Tyrone won the trophy thanks to a 1-13 to 0-10 victory over Cavan.
