Donegal's first Ulster title of 1972 - like a Phoenix from the Flame

Peter Campbell speaks to team manager Brian McEniff to mark Donegal's great breakthrough in winning their first Ulster SFC 50 years ago this weekend and details on a player-by-player basis those who helped make the achievement possible

Seamie Granaghan (Bundoran)
Seamus was and remains a very good friend. There is just a year and a bit between us and we played a lot of football together, junior with Bundoran, senior with St Joseph's and Donegal. Pount for pound, he was as good as any I have seen.
Micheal O hEihir put the nickname 'Roly Poly Granaghan' on him. He was the type of player who didn't worry about who he was playing on and didn't care for reputations. He was the man who delivered the vital goal in the first game against Down in '72 that won us the game.

He pounced on a bad Down kick-out and into the Town goals, hit the top corner. It was the winning of the match. He had no fear and was as strong as an ox, handling creamery can. He was also an early to bed man.
He won many medals with St Joseph's and was a very special and consistent player. He was a good club man and still doesn't miss.
