Club-by-club guide to the Junior A Football Championship

Downings won the Donegal Junior A title last season and have since made it to Division 1 of the All-County Football League, with the competition starting again this weekend

Moville
Managers: Anthony Doogan and Eamonn Reddin
Last year championship: Ran Letterkenny Gaels close in the JFC quarter-final, losing 0-11 to 0-10
This year’s AFCL: Second from bottom of Division 3
First two opponents: Away to Pettigo; home to Naomh Colmcille
Prospects: Moville were disappointed to be relegated the weekend before last without kicking a ball with Red Hughs given a walkover victory over Gaeil Fhánada. However, three points from a possible 24 at that point meant the odds mightn’t have been in the favour. Did defeat Red Hughs beforehand and played out an encouraging draw with MacCumhaill’s. Last weekend’s 6-15 to 1-14 victory over St Mary’s Convoy wasn’t worth much in terms of league position but can certainly act as a confidence builder ahead of the championship.
Star man: Ciaran Diver
