Off the beaten track: Stories from the latest round of championship

The Donegal SFC reached round three last weekend while the IFC group stages finished, so here's a few things you might've noticed

Reelin’ in the years
Thirty years ago, Milford were crowned Donegal Intermediate Football Champions with a team that included Aodh McCormack and Nigel Black.
A week before Donegal won their first ever All-Ireland SFC when they defeated Dublin 0-18 to 0-14 at Croke Park, Milford saw off the challenge of Naomh Ultan closer to home.
These days, McCormack and Black and coaches of the Milford reserve team and on Saturday their team took on Killybegs in the Senior B Championship at Fintra.
Both men togged out - McCormack is 55 now and Black 52 - in their 1-7 to 0-9 win. Nineteen-year-old Shane Black - who is 19 - played alongside his father Nigel.
It was Milford’s first win in the competition having lost out 3-9 to 3-6 against St Michael’s at Moyle View last weekend, following on from a 1-20 to 2-5 reversal in the opening round away to Kilcar in Towney. They await this evening’s draw for their fourth round opponents. AF
